Annie McDonnell
Hello, I’m Annie McDonnell, a New York State licensed acupuncturist with a focus on relieving stress-related ailments. A longtime children’s book editor, I know how deadline pressures and creative burnout impact physical and emotional health; I’m interested in helping you understand the unique story of your health condition, treating the root causes, and empowering you to transform your narrative from pain to healing.
A graduate of Swarthmore College, I earned my master’s degree in acupuncture from the New York College of Traditional Chinese Medicine. I’m certified in Acutonics, a needle-free treatment that uses the vibrational energy of tuning forks on acupuncture points, and continue to be an enthusiastic lifelong student of sound healing, aromatherapy, and other holistic specialties. I’ve studied facial acupuncture renewal with Mary Elizabeth Wakefield, gua sha facial rejuvenation with Dr. Ping Zhang, motorpoint acupuncture with Richard Hazel, breathwork with Erin Telford, and Western herbalism with Peeka Trenkle and Robin Rose Bennett among other wonderful teachers.
My practice is Joy Alchemy Acupuncture because I’ve experienced how reconnecting with deep inner joy heals grief, fear, and pain, and my mission is to help you reclaim your joyfulness in body, mind, and spirit. When acupuncture, sound healing, breathwork, and other complementary techniques deeply relax your nervous system and boost energy and blood circulation, you’re able to tap into the body’s natural healing power. The more you experience that calm state, the more able you are to return to it when life gets out of balance.
It would be my honor to help you navigate your journey to true wellness.
