About Renée

Originally educated as a Marriage and Family Therapist in 1980 in Detroit, Michigan, I cultivated a deep understanding that we all do not see the world in the same way, not only because of our gender, cultural, and age differences but because of our accumulated life experiences.

After graduating, I was placed in a practicum in an inner-city treatment center to work with women who were alone, addicted, and raising children with very few parenting skills. From there, I went on to work in several hospital settings with a private practice on the side.

In 1990, I opened a wellness center, collaborating with other professionals to assist clients in developing a holistic approach to reclaiming their health. Working in a variety of settings, including hospitals, private practice, wellness centers, and outpatient clinics, has broadened my understanding of the type and level of care each client needs.

In my private practice, I’ve dealt with professionals, both men and women, who were dealing with job dissatisfaction and deep desires to make more of their lives, and who were feeling disempowered.

I began to speak, train, and design programs early in my career and I was told repeatedly that I was warm, professional, skilled, and had much to offer as a trainer and presenter.

Always drawn to wellness and how that might help sustain change, I obtained additional certifications and licenses to incorporate complementary aspects of care into my practice. I opened a wellness center where I worked collaboratively with other professionals to assist those impacted by addictions, those wanting to improve their personal and professional relationships and those seeking alternative solutions to their healthcare needs.

With 40 years of professional experience as a therapist and coach, I’ve learned to integrate a variety of modalities to support clients as they identify and realize their goals. As a lifelong learner, drawn to sustained wellness and self-improvement, I obtained additional certifications and licenses.

As a coach, counselor, and trainer, my mission is to encourage curiosity and raise self-awareness with the goal of establishing your unique path to wellness.

Why the Enneagram?
Like many, after seeking a truly holistic approach to understanding humans, I fell in love with the Enneagram at first sight. The Enneagram is the only path I’ve ever studied that provides a truly integrative understanding of our neurobiology – bodies, minds, and a connection to something greater than each of us individually. In addition, the Enneagram helps us identify underlying core motivations.

I believe that every human being has potential and the Enneagram helps us to discover our Pure Potential.

Testimonials

  • "I've been interviewed by radio programs throughout the world, and I've never discovered a more informed and prepared host than Dr. Pat. She discovered not only the broad themes in my book, but zeroed in on how they impact people today. I hope she'll consider becoming a television presenter, as she showcases people and causes important in our society."

  • "I'm as excited about it as you are and thrilled because this is where I think the movement is going."

  • "Dear Dr. Pat and Dr. Thomas, A thousand thank yous for giving me a sense of hope and a veritable new lease on life this morning! I listen to your show on a tv station at 5:00am here in Highland Lakes, NJ. I've been praying/meditating on a way to spark enthusiasm into my 58 year old deadened spirit and I'm so grateful for your wise and inspiring words. I could actually feel my body lighten while you were talking Dr. Thomas, and noticed some of the heaviness and pains in my body lifted! I am so grateful for what you do, Dr. Pat. Needless to say :) I would love to share the interview with friends. How can I access a replay to email to my cronies (just kidding!!) Thank you so very much again. Much love to you both."

  • "Wow! My eyes are full of choking water. Thank you so much and I want to thank everybody for listening. Wow, Dr. Pat may I share a sentiment with you? Before we began I'd like to share a sentiment. You remember there's a show with Bob Barker "The Price is Right"? And where someone's name would get called and suddenly it would become a Pentecostal church where somebody receives the holy ghost and experiences a surge spontaneous burst of joy and you can just see all over their face. In that moment, what that sentiment feels like it's like, "Reverend Thabiti you're the next guest on The Dr. Pat Show!" and that's how I feel right now Dr. Pat. I want to thank to thank everybody for listening and I want the whole world to know Dr. Pat that I just love you so much. I just love you. I just think that I'm speechless."

  • "For those of you who don't know about Mary Jane, first of all she's my mom. I think she's pretty awesome as a mom but I also think she's pretty awesome at what she does. Little bit about her background is in nursing but she's had a thriving, successful practice in Issaquah, Washington since 1992. She's a medical intuitive and the way I describe what she does is a form of muscle testing, the body to find out where your nutritional deficiencies are, then she recommends nutrition protocol that gets in the nutrition repair, feeds your body, brings it back to where it can function at 100% and I used to work in her office, saw a lot of interesting cases that came in. Some were fun, had a few interesting people but I've seen a lot of miracles created in her office and she's a pretty special lady, not just that cause she is my mom and she's a miracle worker."
